Roselli Foreign Car Repair San Jose - Rock Star Mercedes L4P SLR777

The rock star Mercedes seen in these images isn’t a special edition being sold in an exclusive market. No, this is the L4P SLR777, a team collaboration project between Platinum Motorsport, RENNtech, MACarbon, and Exotics Boutique. It is actually the only SLR with a Mansory Renovatio Body Kit installed outside of the Mansory Factory and, to boost its awesome factor to the next level, it is the world’s fastest SLR, clocking in a 1/4 Mile time of 10.29 sec at 134 mph. Has your interest been piqued yet?

The impressive engine work was done by Renntech, who gace the SLR an ECU upgrade, a sports catalytic exhaust upgrade, stainless sport sound and performance SLR mufflers, and stainless steel headers. The engine is now mated to a Mercedes 722.6 five Speed transmission upgrade that was necessary to ensure maximum power is transmitted to the drive wheels without transmission slippage.

A new suspension system and performance brakes were also necessary and, for an even more dramatic appearance, there is also a HLS 2 (Hydraulic Lift System) that provides additional road clearance for lowered vehicles by raising the front axle suspension via the push of a button.

The L4P SLR777 is painted in a new special Liquid White color courtesy of Platinum Motorsport and comes with plenty of carbon fiber elements to brag about, courtesy of MACarbon. The carbon was then combined with black suede from Platinum Motorsport and custom 20" Agetro M140 Monoblock wheels.

Roselli Foreign Car Repair San Jose - 2012 Ferrari California GT

Ferrari launched the California GT back in 2008 at the Paris Auto Show. The 2012 California will get some special treatment in the form of a big update. The model will be about 66 lbs lighter and will deliver an additional 30 HP. Both the exterior and interior will also be improved.

The new 2012 Ferrari California will be powered by the same 4.3 liter V8 engine, but will get new software and improved machining of the internals to achieve the 30 HP boost. This increase will bring the output up to a total of 483 HP and 373 lb-ft of torque. And since it is also 66 lbs lighter, performance will get a bump as well. The revised California will make the sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.85 seconds (down from 4.0 seconds).

Next to the technical improvements, the 2012 California will receive a few exterior and interior updates, including a bigger hard drive for the in-car entertainment system, 40 GB up from the current 30.

The new California will go into production in January 2012, making a debut in late 2011 a necessity.

Roselli Foreign Car Repair San Jose - Lamborghini Murcielago Brake Rotor Maintenance

Have you notice cracks on your front cross-drilled rotors, that 5-10% of the cross drilled holes are showing a 2mm or less crack.  Should you be looking at OEM rotors and are the replacements the best solution in this case?

What you're seeing on your brake rotors would be consider to be "normal" wear. Don't panic about it at this point. But be  prepared to replace the rotors once it's time for a brake pad change. Yes, the brakes on Lambos are Brembo. Yes, if you buy a Brembo upgrade kit the caliper adapter brackets are included. For what OEM rotors cost it makes more sense to buy the complete upgrade kit. Afterwards you'll be able to buy replacement rotors from Brembo and not Lambo, avoiding some of the crazy price increase.

Roselli Foreign Car Repair San Jose - Porsche Tech Electrical Problems Question and Answer

1987 924S is a great car and with relatively low amount of problems. Last time the car was driven she started hesitating when the accelerator was pushed, and it seemed to get worse and worse. (That was not right away, but after it had run fine for several miles) Looking at the voltage meter (had previously been changed out where the clock usually is) it was visably falling. Finally it died all together. Nice looking Porsche setting on the side of the road with the hood up. (Not a pretty site) Anyway after hooking up a battery boost charger to it, it started right up and ran fine back home. The volt meter has going down though.

The battery is fine and it recharged no problem. The alternator is nearly new less than 300 miles on it, and the belt is tight, and everything seems to be connected corectly. The battery cables were checked and all connections on wires. all is good.

What would be the cause of such a problem?

The thing to do is with the car running check the battery voltage with a multimeter. If it is below 13 volts while running chances are your alternator is not recharging the battery. Make sure the the battery was load tested. The bet would be that their is a problem with the alternator. www.rosellifcr.com

Roselli Foreign Car Repair San Jose - Ferrari F430 Steering Challenges

You think your imagining this at first but then you find out it gets worse.

Initially the steering wheel on the Ferrari F430 seemed to resist subtle changes in steering direction from the straight ahead position when travelling between approximatly 30 and 50 mph. There was only very slight resistance to these steering inputs before the car would eventualy obey. The phenomenon would occur regardless of the Manetino switch setting.

The problem became more pronounced over the next 200 miles now the car is wandering slightly on uneven road surfaces and the steering wheel kicks back a bit. If the F430 steering hadn't been so razor sharp from the start one would think this was normal.

The car has over 16,000 miles and a superficial dealer inspection revealed the offside front balljoint is worn and needs replacing. This is one thing that would account for this kind of steering behaviour. It can also cause a lot of "interesting" steering issues--mainly from its interaction with the springs, ride height (at lest on one side), and those influences on camber, caster, and toe.

Also have the ride heights, corner weights, and suspension aligments checked.

Roselli Foreign Car Repair San Jose - Ferrari 348 What is the Best Oil to use?

Opinions may vary but;

If you are not intending any track use then basically any full synthetic 5W-40 oil will be just fine.

If you are intending any track use, look for 5W-40 oils with an HTHS number of 4.2 or above and 1100 ppm of zinc (or phosphorous).

If you are paranoid about wear and expensive bills, also look for 1100 ppm of zinc (or phosphorous)

Neither of these numbers (HTHS or zinc) will be found on the bottle so you have to do your own research on the net before going and getting the oil. Sorry, that is the state of the oil industry today.

BUT MOST OF ALL  STAY AWAY from oils with the STAR BURST symbol.
